[The journal gets opened with a little gasp and...hello, Aerith's dripping water on her journal.

She also appears to be on the bank of one of the forest rivers, treading water. This is the kind of stuff that happens when you drop your journal in the river while being pursued by Teases. You have to go find it after it's been carried downstream.]

There you are. And now we're both soaking wet. I won't be writing on this for a while...does talking still work--? Anyone hearing this?

((ooc: Yes, this is my excuse for having Aerith be quiet during the Tease event. She lost her journal and was harassed by Teases for the duration. |D And this is also my declaration of slowatus. I still want to stick around with Aerith and not hiatus her ~~and not be as slow as before~~, but I've been a little braindead with her in luceti (and distracted by job-hunting) so if responses are slow, then. I apologize beforehand. Hopefully this won't last much longer. Fingers are crossed.))

How did you manage that?

Nothing too interesting. It's hard to hold onto something else while trying to use a staff. So I dropped it, it fell off. I was more worried about the butterflies than getting it right away.

Oh... oh! That! Yeah, how about that? I'll never trust insects again.

Well, I guess you're fine though. Just a soggy journal. Good to know.

Hey, most butterflies are good! I don't know what was up with those ones, though. Do you? Honestly, between that and the trees...

I'm sure there were more accidents than just me dropping the journal. Looks like you're okay--is your sister all right?

They were evil flesh eating butterflies, that was what was up with them. Still don't know who caused that. At least the trees had an explanation...

Yeah, we're all fine. I was a little sick from fighting in the rain for so long, but I'm fine now.

I'm sure the butterflies do too, it just needs to be figured out. But I'm glad you both were okay during all that.

So far, nobody's talking about who did it.

That's less annoying than someone boasting about it, but not very reassuring. I don't know anyone who can do something like that... There's so many people with strange abilities here.

Kind of makes you wonder if we'd all be better off if all of Luceti was like the tunnels.

People can make trouble without those abilities, but it would be a little more--hmm. Predictable?

So...maybe. But I know some people can do really good things with their talents.

Yeah, I guess so. Maybe if only there was healing magic, that would be fine.

I'd like that. Now if there was a way to arrange it...

Yeah. I'll let you take care of that. I don't think people will be too happy with whoever manages to make that happen.

I know, I know. It'd do more harm than good anyway if it was permanent.

Clearly whoever is in charge of giving out magical funtime powers just needs to zap me with a little something.

Oh, I have. Fire, wind, and lightning. They're useful, but only to an extent.

That's a good point. Earth's useful for smothering flames and healing plants, but it doesn't pack the same power as materia.

Let me guess, materia is your version of magic, right? Funny how every world has their own name for it.

But it makes sense since they all work in different ways, I think. We use them for similar things, but they're not all the same.

[A small sigh.]

So, how does it work for you? Something you stick in your hand? Read it from a book? Born with it? Have to swing a small stick around?

[She laughs.] I swing a big stick around, but that's because I like smashing things. Materia can be held in hand or put in special slots in weapons. Some weapons are even built to help the materia grow.
